Skin Pigmentation - One of the Side effects of Chemical Peeling

In this new era of fashion and beauty, chemical peel has come up as a cosmetic treatment, which has been widely used by millions of people around the world for skin rejuvenation. Chemical peels help in restoring a person’s youthful appearance by removal of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and other unwanted facial growths. Also, chemical peels have done wonders for old people who wanted to get rid of their aging skin making their skin smooth and soft by reducing old wrinkles and providing a soft and smooth complexion. People who have suffered from sunburns and problems like skin pigmentation have also benefited from chemical peels but the main point to consider over here is that like any other cosmetic treatment option, chemical peels also carry some risks and side effects and today, I will discuss these risks and side effects of chemical peeling in some great detail and also provide some solutions which can be applied to prevent these side effects and risks from happening.

Risks and Side Effects of Chemical Peeling

Although the results of chemical peels are usually good, but there are certain types of skin that may develop permanent pigmentation changes, which depends largely on the family and hereditary history. Sometimes, intake of birth control pills after undergoing chemical peels also causes some risks and problems. Some side effects and risks of chemical peeling include facial scarring and discoloration and facial numbness with infections and some times chemical peel burns.

Chemical peeling procedure in heart patients

Before undergoing a chemical peel, you must need to know that this intervention is not necessarily for everyone. A chemical peel must be done by a licensed dematological professional who has received specific training in performing this procedure. Heart patients or people who have a family history of heart disease should consult their family physicians or cardiologists and take a second opinion before thinking about undergoing a chemical peel to ensure that the intervention of chemical peeling has no hazards to their health.

Also, some people who have cold sores develop permanent skin rashes that become much more serious after undergoing chemical peeling.

Chemical peeling procedure and permanent scars

The scars are a potential risk often associated with chemical peel and skin infections. However, these risks can be prevented if a person gets a chemical peel from a certified plastic surgeon who has better knowledge in dealing with these types of problems. Usually, temporary scars appear after the intervention, but some people have reported permanent scarring and depigmentation after undergoing this treatment. If you have a sensitive skin, it is common to see some red sports after undergoing a chemical peel. Most of the wrinkles begin to disappear after 48 hours of undergoing this procedure and vanish completely after three or more days.

How to prevent side effects of chemical peeling?

To get rid of the side effects after undergoing a chemical peel, a person must follow the guidelines of the doctor, which include avoiding the sun for a few days so you do not cause damage to your new skin. Dermatologists also recommend the use of a moisturizing cream or lotion that contains a sunscreen with an index of at least SPF 15 if you are going to be out in the sun for more than one hour. It is also recommended to prevent infections of the treated area.
