See results without votingHomemade remote controlled cars are a great way for people to enjoy the excitement and speed of racing cars. Most kids grow up with various radio-controlled and remote-controlled electric cars that can navigate easily from a distance.
Here is one of my articles I published a few days back providing some tips on How to make a Remote Controlled Robot Car? This article includes tips for making a remote controlled toy car from scratch including components required to build one that are chassis, remote control kit, batteries, motors, and wheels.
Remote control toy cars are sold in many toy stores and are extremely affordable fun cars but it does not reach anywhere near the full capacity of electric cars. For hobbyists who want to get the most from an electric car including the speed and extreme performance, there are several types available.
When it comes to remote control cars, there are two types, gas cars and electric cars. The gas-powered cars use much smaller engines to power the vehicle. Electric cars use electric motors and tiny on-board batteries to power the vehicle. While some electric cars may only be fired with three times the overall AA, AAA batteries, C or D, electric cars use more intermediate and advanced electric motors with rechargeable battery packs that can be sold with or without electric car body. Obviously, the basic vehicles will be virtually intact and will require simple installation. Some high value electric cars are part of superior quality sold by some online manufacturers, which require a lot of time and adjustment to make.
- Who Killed The Electric Car?
For the most part, fully loaded electric cars perform for about 6 to 8 minutes only. Highest speed for these electric cars is about 20 - 30 mph. Believe me, this is quite fast for such small vehicles. Most electric car enthusiasts buy two packages of rechargeable battery and a 15-minute worth charger. With this setup, a hobbyist can easily use another battery when the first battery finishes off.
In addition to the electric motor and the battery, the other major part is the electric car chassis. The chassis is a frame where other parts of the vehicle are attached. Most electric cars are in 1/8 or 1/10 scale. In certain cases, a person can easily exchange a body part with a different scale. For this, you have to trim away the body partly to suit the customer needs. The body should include the hood, accessories, and the overall outer structure. It is important to note that the vehicles should be built with high quality aluminum or graphite chassis for better strength and heat resistance properties.
Good strong tires are another piece of equipment that most of the intermediate electric cars require. Some very basic electric cars require a set to be bought separately. Replacement of tires depends on the load of your vehicle and on which type of terrain you are driving the vehicle.
The electronic speed control is another major part of the electric car. Finally, the radio control unit is usually in the form of a small steering wheel and a lever or a button for acceleration and braking to control the car. These devices can operate from a respectable distance, however, for maximum effectiveness, you should be able to see and monitor your vehicle from a short distance.

What would really peak my interest in an all electric car is one that would never need to be charged intermittently.In other words a electric motor/generator,that not only drives the car ,but also provides the energy to run the electric motor.It would still need a battery but the battery would be there to start the system running and to supply any extra power needed for the cars accessories such as a radio,lights,etc.
Wow this is a really wonderful idea. Why do not you make a hub on that. I bet this will give you life long hits. If that type of care is built up which does not have any need to charge on a frequent basis just weekly or monthly, that would be really great. I think if this type of long-lasting battery is manufactured for electric cars, it will be really costly but then also will be sold away instantly to electric car owners.

I have never even thought that anyone can make remote control cars at home!
It is possible now scheng1 and it is worth a try but it takes a lot of time.
When my son(11 years old) wanted to move up from toy remote control cars to hobby rc cars I wanted to get him an electric car to start. But he insisted that he only wanted a gas powered rc car. So that is what I got him. Take my advise if your child is under the age of 15 get him ELECTRIC. Gas is just to complicated.

Personally I would be really put off by the fact that you get such a paltry amount of time to use them, I mean, I'd want to be out for a couple of hours without having to go through the rigmarole of replacing the batteries every eight minutes.
Yes that's the problem and technology needs to overcome this. I think there should be RC toys that get powered by solar radiation. How's the idea Mr. O'Neil.

So very interesting..I have been always interested in mechanics and tinkered in cars all my life. I wonder how much the electric cost will be when the electric car takes over..
