Though there are two more branches of Naivedyam, one in Hauz Khas and one in Rohini, but I love the South Indian vegetarian delicacies of Naivedyam in East Patel Nagar just because this outlet is located right near my office. I have been eating out in Naivedyam since many years now. I visit this place with my office colleagues and also with my family. The first time I visited Naivedyam was in 2006 when they opened this outlet in East Patel Nagar. The most important thing about Naivedyam is that they are cheap and best for vegetarians. They charge just Rs. 100 for 2 plates of vada sambar and believe me they are the best vadas you have ever tasted. Unlike the other roadside places, where they make vadas and keep them in a pile, these guys actually fry them on order only. So it took some pipe; however, what came out was "khasta karara garma garam" vada. They will give you three types of sauces (chutneys) with the sambar and vada and all of them are delicious. The quantity of sauce and sambar they give is quite good too. We visited Khaaja Chowk last Saturday. Took a seat outside in the balcony/deck whatever you want to call it. The weather was pleasant and beer chilled. We only had bharwan aloo and veg gelauti kebabs. Both were for Rs. 100. The quality of aloo was awesome and the quality of filling was great. The ambiance is great.

If you love vegetarian recipes, Colonel's Kababz in Defence Colony indeed has some decent fare. If you are a cabbage fan, try out their gobi kasturi (cabbage curcuma aromatica) and if you like potato, try their achari aloo (spicy potato). They both are quite amazing. Other vegetarian dishes of CK in DefCol include paneer butter masala and paneer korma both made up of fresh cheese. You should definitely give it a shot the next time you are here in Delhi. This restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is visited by a lot of foreign travelers to Delhi.
