Benefits of Homework For Children
82
Your kids are all prepared to go back to school. You have bought the most durable backpacks, water bottles, and other gadgets for your kids. You have bought all the school supplies according to the list. You have plenty of back to school breakfast ideas. Your kid has the right pen for doing class work. You have given your kid back to school bribes for good behavior. You know how to calm down back to school anxiety in your kid but have you checked that your kid has completed his homework or not. What do you feel about the homework? Do you also think it is useless and a child learns everything at school in his classroom? Do you think that homework is ruining your and your kid’s life at home? If you think like this, then you need to give this a second thought because homework is an important mean to inculcate self-management skills in children. It also helps foster child’s growth. It is not only meant for getting good results in academics but there are many other benefits of homework. As a parent, it becomes important for you to broaden your outlook about homework to let your kid grow fully. Homework is an effective measure to make your kid confident and independent. Homework gives your kid a lot of opportunities to explore his capabilities, but parents should remember to not constantly help or spoon-feed their child to complete their homework and should let them to that on their own. They should give their kids the freedom to handle their own work in their own way and give them enough time without pressing about the results. After doing this, you will see that your kids will come out with flying colors and will be able to reap the benefits of homework which I will explain one by one:
Homework helps your kid in becoming self-reliant
With homework, your kid learns to become self reliant and independent. Children start to seek solutions to complex problems on their own without the help of their parents, but parents should be there when the child is stuck in a problem and needs assistance.
Homework helps develop analytical skills in the kid
Homework gives ample opportunities to kids to recall and retain whatever they have learnt in the school. When a child learns an exercise in the class and tries to do it on his own at home, he/she starts to do the analysis of the work to get a clue to solve the problem.
Children develop self-management skills with homework
When a child does homework on his own, he learns how to manage his time and schedule therefore acquiring self-management skills.
Kids develop self-confidence with homework
Solving a problem on his own gives the kid a sense of satisfaction and achievement. The kid starts to believe in his own abilities and gets motivated to try doing things more efficiently. This boosts the self-confidence of the kid and makes him ready for the next day in school. He uses his own intelligence to crack problems and applies the same thoughts in the class, which helps him getting praised by the teachers. Praise and appreciation also helps in developing self-confidence in the kid.
Children develop a desire to learn
Appreciation and praise by the teachers at school and parents at home also develops interest for studies in the child’s mind. He starts enjoying his homework. A time comes when the homework does not become a burden for the kid but becomes an interesting activity to learn new things and get rewards at school.
After talking a lot about the advantages of homework, I would also like to she some light on the disadvantages of increased homework. According to me, a child should be given homework, which does not become a burden. In some schools, teachers give a plenty of homework to do without keeping in mind how much time a child has to do it. There are several other things to do at home for a kid like playing, hanging out with friends, helping mom and dad with household activities, taking care of a younger sibling and homework should not take all their time. Increased homework becomes burden and kids start to run away from this. Any type of homework whether it is practice, preparation, extension, or creative, should be given according to the time it takes to complete it. An excessively lengthy homework becomes boring and burden for the kids. At last I would say that your child will never be bored of the homework and will not take it as a burden if will take less amount of time to complete.

YES,YOU ALL ARE CORRECT.I ALWAYS LIKE TO DO HOME WORK AND ALSO I ENJOY IT............
I know there are mixed opinions among the masses regarding this debate....there are pros and cons of course owing to different mind sets .....I personally feel kids should have limited home work assignments which re-enforces learning abilities to benefit their schooling needs.Thanks.
Kids need home work. However, this needs to be very well balanced so kids have time for play and relaxation.
If only parents helped more with there child's homework. I heard that many parents don't even know how to do the homework their kid is given.

Great information. Some parents feel it is more important for their kid to socialize than do homework and it is a shame. There is always a balance that can be found.
Thanks
